Smitten by Giraffes: The Anne Innis Dagg Adventure

1956: Four years before Jane Goodall ventured into the world of chimpanzees, and seven years before Dian Fossey left to work with mountain gorillas. In fact, before anyone, man or woman had studied African animals in the wild, 23-year-old Canadian biologist Anne Innis Dagg set off alone for South Africa to live with wild giraffes. In Smitten by Giraffes, an older, wiser Dagg returns to where her trail-blazing, boundary-breaking journey began in Africa more than half a century ago. Retracing her original steps, Dagg gives us an intimate window into the past juxtaposed with a compelling firsthand look at giraffes today.
